Salem Area Young Professionals

Young professionals in Salem have a new virtual home. Salemyoungpros.com has been launched as the center of communications for the new program for up-and-comers in Salem.

The Salem Area Young Professionals mobilizes volunteers to create and implement a strategy to retain emerging young professionals and attract new professionals to the region. It is a dynamic group of emerging young professionals with a passion for Salem. YoungPros helps people get connected to other young professionals, community leaders and businesses throughout the Salem area.

Future plans for the web portal include online polling, volunteer opportunities, blogs, discussion boards and success profiles. The group plans to meet 20- and 30-somethings where they live: on the web.

"Web sites are static and generally unchanging," said Kyle Sexton, director of member services for the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, and designer of Salemyoungpros.com. "But portals allow people a way to interact online. This web site will allow users to share their views with business and community leaders, while they also get the information they need to grow in their careers and community involvement."
