Launch event success

October 12, 2005

On September 29th, the Salem Conference Center foyer in downtown Salem filled with over 120 participants for the Salem Area Young Professionals launch event. Attendees received a welcome from Mayor Janet Taylor and a keynote address from Portland General Electric representative Deane Funk. Both spoke on the importance of being involved in the Salem area community.

The majority of the program allowed for networking between young professionals.

"The primary focus of the launch event was to give attendees the opportunity to actively network with one another and begin building new relationships," said Jason Brandt, Director of Public Affairs for the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce. "I was personally excited to witness so many introductions take place throughout the night."

Within three weeks of the launch event, the Young Professionals program has over two-hundred 20- and 30- somethings signed up to receive direct emails on upcoming young professional events and topics.

"The launch event was great!" exclaimed one young professional. "I can't wait for more!"

Also actively involved as part of the launch event was presenting sponsor Oregon Community Credit Union. "We are committed to working with young professionals to provide meaningful programs that develop and enhance their professional skills," said Erik Jensen, Director of Business Development for Oregon Community Credit Union.

Also in attendance were representatives of presenting sponsor Ticor Title. "The turnout for the launch event exceeded our expectations," said Leslie Thompson, Marketing Representative with Ticor Title. "We are excited about the continued success of Young Professionals events."

The October YoungPros event is scheduled for Thursday, October 27th from 5:30 - 7:30pm on site at Willamette Valley Vineyards. For more information and to RSVP, click here.
