Making a difference at the Boys & Girls Club

April 20, 2006

Salem Young Pros came out in force for the Kid's Night Out event, hosted at Boys & Girls Club in April.  The celebrated program  matches over 150 children with a community volunteer for an evening of fun, games, eating, and mentorship.  Over 20 Salem Young Pros members gave the better half of their Thursday evening late in April in a strong show of solidarity by the next generation of business professionals.

"This event is about connecting bright, energetic youth with caring mentors," said YoungPros chair Tom Hoffert.  "Trust me, the biggest benefactors tonight is not the kids, it's the volunteers!  As young business leaders, we all periodically need to allocate time to local volunteerism.  This event exposes our Salem Young Pros to yet another avenue where their giving is valued."

A number of local businesses sponsor the event and many had their employees present as well.  With another successful year completed, planning for next year's event will begin shortly.  For more information on this and other Boys & Girls Club programs, contact Salem Young Pros board member, Kari Bean at kbean@bgc-salem.org.
