YoungPros soak up the local arts

June 22, 2006

Close to 70 YoungPros signed up to dabble in the arts as part of an after hours on Wednesday, June 21st at the Bush Barn Art Gallery. In partnership with the Salem Art Association, YoungPros were treated to wine, appetizers and exhibits as they conversed with others in attendance.

Pictured at right is YoungPro Alex Sheppard (far left) touching base with Ryan Allbritton and Theresa Maurmann. Allbritton and Maurmann dressed up in their finest to promote November's "Evening d' Elegance" which will take place on November 4th at the Salem Conference Center.

The featured exhibit for the evening was Wood and Clay. The pieces were created by nationally known local artist  Leroy Setziol and Wally Schwab. Wood carvings filled the upstairs space of the gallery.

As part of the evening YoungPros were asked what the program thus far has meant to them. To date, the Young Professionals program has created over 10 separate events for Salem area residents in their 20s and 30s.

"The Young Professionals program is a great way to meet other people in different professions," said Shannon Tennant, representing Habitat for Humanity. "I'm really enjoying what Salem has to offer."

"The program has really helped me connect with other Young Professionals," said Trina Warnock with NELA Management Group. "Sometimes you see familiar faces and sometimes many new faces."

To date, over 650 unique Young Professionals have been touched by YoungPros events this year and the program continues to gain momentum as plans begin to take shape for Fall of 2006. Stay tuned.
