Ugly Sweaters Abound in December! Wednesday, December 19th 2007
Cyndi Astley and Jim Griggs (pictured below) both expressed the
importance of connecting passion with volunteerism. Both Astley and
Griggs shared backgrounds which included volunteering in a number of
different capacities. By doing so, both were able to find the volunteer
opportunities that did spark passion and interest for them as
businesspeople.
"When you find your passion, you become a better person, a better employee, and the community benefits," said Astley.
There are a number of resources online to help equip YoungPros with the tools they need to find a good fit in a volunteer role. Givebacktoday.org is a great community website giving broad volunteer information on needs like mentoring. Workandlearnnow.com is another great community website which connects local businesses with kids in high school classrooms.
"There are so many needs in this community as with many other communities where there are great opportunities to get involved," said Griggs.
